Spikey 3d Studio Max Tutorial
This tutorials is a continuation of the cool abstract
tutorials.
This tutorials will show you how to make a cool abstract
image. This one takes a little bit of time but it
is worth the end effect.
Start out my resetting your Max window. Then take
the geosphere object

and use it to make a nice little ball in your perspective
view.

Then to the right in the Geosphere menu uncheck
the smooth option, and after you do that you should
get an image like the one below.

Now we are going to right click on the image with
the normal move cursor so it puts up a menu Then go
to convert> convert to editable patch, like seen
in the page below
Now right click again and choose extrude patch, like
seen in the image below

Now click somewhere on the image, then after you
click on it move your cursor over the spot in witch
you clicked and a new cursor object will appear Wen
it does keep your mouse over that stop, left click
and drag it out, This should allow you to pull each
individual piece of the geoshpere out.

Now here is the hard part, try to pull out almost
every section of the geosphere until you get it to
look like the image below

Now go to the noise filter and use the settings below

when you do that you should get a cool picture like
the one below. It helps to experiment with the materials,
I just used a plain one on the image below
