Bevel Text Fireworks Tutorial

This tutorial will show you an easy way to make some smooth beveled text using the eyecandy filters provided to you in fireworks.

Start off by click on the text took in your toolbar.

Adjust the settings in the properties window. I used the settings below. Make sure your text is wide enough to give proper room for the shading needed to make it look beveled. Choose a color that suits you.

Type in whatever you like on your canvas.

Choose Filter > Eye Candy > Bevel Boss

A new window will pop up. There are three tabs in this filter menu, each affecting the look of your bevel/emboss. Start off by clicking on the "Bevel Profile" tab, and choosing "Carve."

Next click on the Lighting tab. In this tab you can manually edit the variable listed, or you can click on the sphere and drag the light point wherever you like. Refer to the preview box to the left to give you an idea what your text will look like with the given settings. I used the variable listed below.

Next click on the basic tab. I adjusted the settings as seen below.

Click ok and you should have some nice beveled text. Here is how mine turned out.
