Trendy Abstract 3d Studio Max Tutorial

¬ 1: Ok
first we need to open 3d studio max and this
tutorial works for mostly all versions that
I'm aware of I never owned 2.0 so I wouldn't
know but, oh well. |
¬ 2: Next
you need to make a teapot and apply the noise
modifier using these settings: seed = anything
you want; scale = 0; fractal = on; strengths
= anything you want for x, y, and z
|
¬ 3: Then
we need to add another modifier called mesh
smooth and put 2 iterations on that I had 3,
but most computers cant handle it if yours can
go as high as it can handle; no higher than
4. |
¬ 4: Then
get a few good angles on it and render as many
renders as you want at least 2 though. I rendered
like 15 and went through them sorting out what
was good and what wasn't.
|
Now I think I used these renders,
but I made this tut after I made the wallpaper
so I could be wrong but it really doesn't matter
either way you'll get the desired effect. |
|
¬ 5 - Oh
and make sure you save the renders as .png at
24bit with the alpha channel selected. |

¬ 1: Ok well the first
step in Photoshop that I did was decide how
big your wall is going to be all my walls
are 1600x1200 so no need to decide for me;)...
Ok and once your done deciding you want to
take both your renders and put each one on
different layers.
|
¬ 2: Now that you have each render
you've chosen on separate layers time to get
to the fun stuff. Ok you want to then select
your move tool and make sure you have auto
select layer and show bounding box checked
also. Ok Resize both of them so they cover
most of the wall not all I mean there are
going to be corners left out but you want
it as big as the wall both of them then set
the top layer to difference.
|
¬ 3: Next
what I did was fill in the sides using an
airbrush and the select tool if And I Gaussian
blurred around what I filled in and put it
under the render so it wasn't noticeable that
it was added. If you have any knowledge of
Photoshop and I hope so b/c you're taking
this tutorial you can do it. And another thing
that will help you is I'll post my psd for
you to look at. My initial Image looked something
like this:
